How things have changed since I bought www.yarnsmith.co.uk in 2008, when, almost on a whim, we travelled to London, packed the car with stock and headed back to set up the business from our spare bedroom.

We now have a purpose built studio in the garden; we have re-written and re-launched the website; every spare moment not running the shop is spent teaching, designing, demonstrating or talking yarn, every extra spare moment is spent knitting. What hasn’t changed is my passion for the craft – the indescribable joy and satisfaction I get from creating something totally unique out of scrumptious fibres and a series of knots!

My passion to share this love and pass it on to seasoned and novice knitters alike is what drives me so I hope that our web-site and creations inspire you to wield your needles afresh and continue the “knitting revolution!”

Vanessa Hurrell Designs

Evoking a passion for colour and textures to create a design fusion using game feathers and decoupage.

The collection includes bespoke lighting, vintage door hangers and other interior home and garden pieces using upcycled materials combining the cute and the contemporary.

Based in the beautiful English countryside of Suffolk I am a designer/maker who is passionate about the importance of finely crafted handmade work.

Handmade at Poshyarns is a true kitchen table business with each piece drafted, sourced, cut, stitched, pressed and finished by me.

I work with the finest linens, gorgeous Liberty of London prints, precious scraps of silk, vintage fabrics and buttons to create traditionally crafted items with a contemporary twist. I create beautiful gadget cases, handbag essentials, accessories, traditional children’s clothing, soft toys and home ware accessories. Handmade at Poshyarns can provide you with unique products to fill your home and gift to your friends and family.

Dazzle & Fizz

Alice's Imagination

I make a range of fabric clocks plus other home wares and gifts such as kitchen and garden accessories.

FootballStadium-21st Century Cathedrals

Football Stadium photographic montages and greeting cards

My latest project “FootballStadium-21st Century Cathedrals” has given me the opportunity to travel Europe documenting these sporting places of worship, from the towering tiers of Camp Nou in Barcelona to the more intimate surroundings of my own sporting cathedral, Roots Hall.

My first visit to Roots Hall took place on the 10th of January 1979, a 3rd round FA Cup tie against the mighty Liverpool (played in front of 31,033 fans). Although Southend held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw my only memories of the game was standing on the concrete terracing of the West stand and watching the snow fall against the floodlights. My passion of football stadiums has stayed with me ever since.
